Organic

Disregard the purple shadows, haha

Watercolor piece for Rendering

Stuck in a major art rut...

Oh and for themes... hmm, it could fit in with 'organic' quite nicely! :3

Dessert & New Medium

Cupcake sketches in oil pastels done while procrastinating on important finals for school.  Anyways this crosses both the dessert and new medium theme off the list, double whammy!

Speaking of new mediums, it was really tricky trying to figure out how to layer color with oil pastels.  The lighter pastels would often end up piling up oil from the darker color underneath and it would all smear together and yeah... the end result ended up looking super flat.  Especially the blue cupcake!

But I'm sure I'll learn new tricks for that the more I practice with them.

LONG overdue movie post.

This is so late it's hilarious. And you know what's the kicker is?  I NEVER FINISHED IT.  It still needs like a billion more layers for it to look complete, I didn't even fill in the pattern of her dress.  Whateverrr.

This is from Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.  Done with watercolor.

Look at that huge white splotch.  Look at that empty gray wash.  Eww, okay stop looking now.

Movie Still

Hello! This is for Sunday's theme, which was movie still, original or existing.
Uh, if you know of this movie, then wow, tell me what other movies you've seen!
Bear with me on the crappy quality of the photo. : P

Woo hoo, updates!

We are going to get this blog moving again.  That is the plan.

There's a brand new set of themes that start next Sunday.  We've all got a few days of preparation so there should be no stragglers this time!

The upcoming theme is "movie still", so create something that looks like a screenshot of a movie scene!

Monster

'Ello!
I haven't posted in awhile!
So anyways, here's my post for Wednesday's theme, "Monster." I might upload another traditional drawing of a mutant, zombie, teddy-now-mouse creature later. (too lazy to scan)
I'm a noob at digital painting, tee hee. It's so fun though, I can't wait to do more!
Critiques always welcome.

It's Ira! But not really.

Hi, Me Again

Hey look, I'm drawing!
So this is my post for wednesday (and today is wednesday!)
This is... supposed to be me.
Sarah will most likely disagree. It is from a rather glamorized picture I had on photobooth (heh) but it had a lot of "contrast" so, um. That's my excuse.

Hannah's Entry (wow, can this get more bland?)

... entry for Sunday. Heh.

So I guess this is the part where I tell people about myself? Well, my name is Hannah for starters. I like orange juice a whole lot, and I kind of have this obsession with a thing called The Lord of the Rings (which is, of course, only practical since I'm going into film). In my free time I like to pretend I'm an artist or write stories about magical lands and creatures. I'm not too fond of driving, but I do it because I have to. I wake up at 8:32 every morning (this is central time, folks) and I love God a whole bunch.
Also, I will marry a man with a cool accent one day.

My debut?

My first art post here!!

This was for Wednesday's fashion theme. I drew it free hand with Staedler pens and used ecolines to color it.  Lots mistakes, also the pic has a fuzzy quality to it because the paper was warped when I scanned it.

An intro?

I'm a Type B personality, a xenophile, and currently obsessed with self-healing.  I'm majoring in animation, and I love and am inspired by feminine illustration and lomography.  I like bright colors, urban street wear, and princess-y things.  heh.

Lokkita
I realize I'm the only one who hasn't posted anything yet.  That'll change today, I promise!

Worst Nightmare

Lost.
 Alone.
Pain.
Tears.
Holes.
Digging deep into the soul.

Now tell me, what's my worst nightmare :)

Two Chicks, One Pocky

Guess who these two chicks are! :DDD arent' they smexy together?? haha

anyways, here's my contribution to the tuesday challenge thing.

Ok, pocky time :3

and i'm out! PEACE!

~TienTien

THE NIGHT IS ALIVE!

This is Lucy! Here's my submit for todays' theme of "Pocky." Who would think that such an innocent thing as a yummy pocky stick could get so...sexual, duurrrrrr.

I stole Jessica's idea. Tee hee.

Hi! It's Lucy!
It's my post for the theme for Sunday, which is "Worst Nightmare."

What I consider my worst nightmare (because I don't usually have nightmares per se) involved cutting up someone's face. Yeah, I know, not pretty...

Weekly Warts

Hi guys, TienTien (J.Yang) here! :)

Here's my first contribution to this blog!

The theme is Warts:

I have no idea how is this piece relating to warts, but that's what I scribbled out for that theme :)

--------

Hmm, i should probably do a little introduction...
well, I'm TienTien.. And.. I love watching anime, reading manga..
I'm your typical asian otaku art school student! My mind is all over the place, so my art doesnt' always illustrate the kind of person i am :) So good luck finding out what kind of person i am (haha)
Ok, there is nothing interesting about me, but I hope my art will inspire you or motivate you somehow :)

and I'm out, night guys! Drive safely, don't get rape, and peace out!

~J.Yang

Warts

Hey, it's Lucy. Here's my submit from Wednesday (the day for my theme...eh heh...)

Wednesday, Feb 3

Saying Sunday was a huge day for us three would be an understatement....

Sorry about not being able to post stuff up on time on our first week!  I think we all know we had bigger issues to deal with that day though.

The challenge for Feb 3 is:

WARTS (...Lucy's idea)

Monday, February 1, 2010

HI!
I guess I'll start off with a brief intro.
I'm Lucy, aka oilandmilk, and I'm a freshman at LCAD majoring in illustration with emphasis in graphic design. My hair length is short and that's how I like it, senseless violence makes me laugh, and I love gay people? And I hate intros a lot. hee.

Anyway, here's my submit for Sunday's theme Language Barrier, straight from the sketchbook. Critiques are welcome, especially about anatomy and human form. I would love to develop this into more of a park scene or something, it definitely can go somewhere! But yeah, have fun, submit art, inspire us, YEAH! :D

And thank you, dashboard translator.

Sunday, Jan 31

Sunday's theme:

LANGUAGE BARRIER!

Aim of this blog

What we're trying to do with this blog:

  • Post a new theme each day.
  • Sketch out some ideas relating to that theme. Or create a whole finished piece :O
  • Scan and submit our stuff.
Even though the blog name says "graphite", you can submit any media you want, photography included.

And that's about it, have fun with this!
